About NaBo

Why NaBo?
It has letters from my official name, and it’s delightfully free of ethnicity, age, gender, or whatever other obvious social markers one might be desperate to apply.
Who is NaBo?
Short answer:
A life form going through this conscious, self-aware experience of life, processing information, and putting it out in a variety of methods that feel appropriate in the moment and for the purpose. Connecting, feeling, evolving. Curiousing.
Long answer:
I am a US-naturalized, Norway-based, elsewhere-born, artist with insatiable thirst and hunger for new experiences, inside and outside of self. Interconnectedness of all life forms, continuity of life-death-rebirth cycle, and beauty inherent to everything we experience, are the core aspects of my artistry.
I am immensely curious about the ability of the natural world to transmit the stories of the time and the creatures it held, holds or will hold. By connecting with the natural elements of their habitat, I work and create in the liminal space between there and here, dream and physical reality, spirit world and human conscience. It only gets curiouser and curiouser!
Traveling between the worlds unseen and our physical reality, connecting with the life within and without, I weave a liminal creation of what desires to be expressed. I don’t always, or even often, have a clear explanation of what it is, or why. It just is, and the only thing it yearns for, is to be shared. Sometimes it is just ink and paper, other times, natural pigments, offerings from the local habitat (lichens, mosses, mushrooms, bark, stones, shells, etc). Then a story comes together – wether it is about times and beliefs bygone and still carried within the land, or something that is present and we are blind to, or something else altogether. It’s an exploration, a discovery, and, without a fail, exciting and inviting and expansive.
