THE FA(A)Q
General ponderings
Why the FA(A)Q?
– Frequently Asked (and Answered) Questions.
What’s NABO?
– First syllables of my first name and my last name respectively. It also happens to be the word for “neighbour” in Norwegian.
Art ponderings
What medium(s) do you work with?
– The ones with a good story. But aside from the inspiration from the spirit mediums, I draw with ink pens on mostly watercolor paper, photograph with digital and analog cameras, and do other stuff, but it’s not on this website, so let’s not mention it for now.
What are your drawings about?
– If you ponder for a bit, you might notice a common theme of underwater world seeping into the overwater world, the circle of life-death-everything-in-between, and interconnectedness of everything with everything. Additionally, I also hope that my drawings leave enough room for you to see, feel, and imagine more.
Price ponderings
How do you price your art?
– A question that is perpetually in the process of being answered. Currently, the only originals for sale are those that were commissioned. If you are curious about a commission, we can start a conversation.
Prints are priced on the basis of how much it costs me to
create the original (percentage of how long it took me to make the original plus the cost of the materials), and
go to a professional studio, have them take a medium format photo, color grade it, render, test print, and make a giclée print on an art paper.
What’s giclée and why do I care?
– In short, giclée printing is higher quality, offering better detail, more vibrant colors, higher longevity (100-200 years), and is used with acid free, archival grade art papers. But if you’re into nerdy details like I am, here’s a link that summarizes it pretty well.
